After doing some research on the life of Sisi, I somehow felt like I had to help her. In the movies Sisi and Franz fall in love ever so romantically, and continue on their happily ever after.
In reality, that is not quite what happened.
Franz was supposed to marry Sisi’s sister, whom she was very close with. But her sister never really forgave her for ‘stealing’ Franz. Sisi was homesick. Sisi was depressed. Sisi writes poems about how she feels like a caged bird. Sisi was anorexic and had a lot of body issues. She hated being pregnant because of this, but she had to produce some heirs. She loved her children, but was not allowed to raise them herself. Her eldest son killed himself. Franz had affairs all the time. Her life was not the fairytale we see in the movies, and we should be aware of that.
