Looking for the evolution of symbolisms in art, I stumbled upon a problem. Symbolisms used to be very black and white. The Omega sign for the beginning and the end of everything, and therefore representing God.
But nowadays, how do you define what something means? You can’t. Art is so much more personal now.
So much more interpretable.
I continued my search and found that where once symbols in paintings subtly told our stories without words, we now use emojis to express ourselves to each other.
There is a beauty in the simplicity of these little yellow faces. But the meaningful hand gestures in older, christian art are so very subtly beautiful as well. I wanted to make a combination of the two, let two generations feel each others wordless stories.
